Giveaway Day

Quilty Giveaways is joining in all of the fun of Sew Mama Sew's Giveaway Day.

Make sure you hop on over to view the 3 master lists (yes 3!) of everyone joining in for the fun giveaways. I'll highlight select giveaways on the weekly linky post so you can browse by thumbnail.

Our newest sponsor Clover and Violet has agreed to giveaway a bag pattern of the winners choice to 2 lucky winners!

So click on over:

Clover and Violet

and then come back and leave me a comment telling me what bag pattern you would love to receive. Remember to leave an email address if you are a no-reply-blogger (click here if you don't know if you are or aren't.) That's it, only one comment per person {strictly enforced with a paddle.} Giveaway is open until Friday the 17th and is open to the whole world, even Canadians.

Of course I'd love it if you became a follower of Quilty Giveaways. It's the best way to stay up to date on all the fun quilt related giveaways going on in blogland!

and... I just have to show you my version of the Lizzy Bag:

The girls over at Clover and Violet sent me the Lizzy Bag pattern to review and I gotta tell you, those instructions are pretty darn clear! Even for someone like me who has trouble making bags. {Is it just me or am I the only one who has trouble thinking inside out?} I usually have to pull out my seam ripper but I did not have to pull it out once. Usually I do something pretty dumb like put the strap on wrong and then when I turn the bag right side out the strap ends up on the inside of my lining!

I love the size of this bag. It's perfect for carrying around a small hand project like knitting or crochet. It's great for those that don't like a huge bag, but it's not tiny either.

Here's what I loved about the pattern:
- easy to understand and to the point instructions
- clear drawings and pictures
- lots of inner pockets
- uses 1 yd of fabric to make the whole bag
- easy enough for a beginner

Here's what I wish was included:
- fabric yardage and cutting layouts for directional prints
- fabric requirements and cutting layouts for making this from 2 different fabrics (different lining fabric and different shell fabric)

Still those things are easily figured out with a little bit of math and would not stop me from buying this pattern. Oh and I highly recommend buying a jean-a-ma-jig to help with those thick seams. (you can get one at most fabric stores for $2-$3) This was my first time using one and now I don't think I will ever sew another thick seam without one!

~ Norma
